Teachers
at the Academy of Foreign Languages are THE BEST
IN THE BUSINESS. This is not hyperbole -- unlike
other language schools,
the majority of your fee goes to the teacher.
Only highly educated and well-trained teachers
can provide superior instruction in grammar, pronunciation,
and conversation.
ALL OF OUR TEACHERS are teaching
their native tongue, are fluent in English, and
have had years of experience in education. They
are trained to adapt their teaching methods to
your needs, accelerating the learning process,
and optimizing your investment. There is no catchall
method for teaching a foreign language; there
are as many ways to teach as there are students
to learn.
Daiana is
the Director and Founding Partner of the Academy
of Foreign Languages. Born in the Tuscany region
of Italy, Daiana graduated from the University
of Pisa where she studied Political Science, Psycho-sociology,
and Linguistics. In addition to her native Italian,
Daiana is fluent in English, French, and Spanish,
and has a working knowledge of Latin and German.
She immigrated to the United States in 1983 and
has taught and trained teachers since 1981. In
addition to teaching and running the Academy of
Foreign Languages, Daiana does interpretation
work across Southern California. She is an expert
in Italian cinema and regional Italian cuisine
and holds a degree in fashion from FIDM.
Lei “Fiorella”
is the President and Founding Partner
of the Academy of Foreign Languages. Born in Southern
California, Lei is a graduate of Pepperdine University.
“My passion for foreign
languages started when, as a girl, I read a book
about a young woman who worked as an interpreter
at the United Nations. That was what I wanted
to be! However, the difficulties I encountered
learning Spanish in middle school took my career
in another direction. Passions being what they
are, I decided to learn a foreign language as
an adult, and have spent time in the U.S. and
abroad studying Italian. Along the way, I made
many false starts (language books and CDs), hit
many speed bumps (large group classes), and have
experienced the same challenges and frustrations
you may have felt.”
“It is the unique multicultural
partnership Daiana and I have, and our dual perspective,
that brings the best foreign language education
to you. We have one vision: to provide everyone
with the opportunity to speak a foreign language.”
